Health and Happiness Alive and Well in Donegal!

With Winter just around the corner we all need a bit of Health and Happiness to see us through the months ahead.

North Donegal Community Network in Association with Donegal Local Development Company (Social Inclusion Community Activation Programme) provided just that, recently with a FREE event in Ramelton Town Hall. A social and networking evening, that aimed to increase people’s awareness of the range of supports available in the county, to achieve health and happiness in their personal lives.

A series of information stands, guest speakers and entertainment certainly left the large group in attendance well prepared with knowledge and information to achieve the happiness factor.

Offering health tips and advice the speakers included, Leslie Newbury (Social Prescribing Donegal), Alistair McKinney (Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland), and Sarah Maher (Arthritis Ireland) . If laughter is the best medicine, then Fergus Cleary did not disappoint with his laughter inducing comedy on the night, while Patricia Swan eased the audience into a relaxed state to enjoy the music and storytelling from Gearoidinne Breathnach Anne “Biddy” McConigley, Margaret Rose McFadden, Tara Conaghan & Eithne Ni Gallagher.

Those attending on the night judged it a resounding success and were already discussing if there would be a repeat any time soon! A sure sign that the benefits of the evening will be felt well into the months ahead and good health and happiness will thrive in this local community.
