The Ramelton farm of award-winning dairy farmer John Speer is to be the site of a “Farm Health, Safety, and Security” event featuring a range of speakers plus a practical walk, talk, and risk assessment session.

The free public event will take place Tuesday, 15th November, from 12.30 to 3 p.m. at the Ramelton Road location of the farm, beside Castleshanaghan National School.

Event speakers and activities have been organised by Donegal Local Development Company (DLDC) as part of the support that the company offers to the farming community through the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP).

“This event will be an excellent opportunity for anyone involved in farming or interested in becoming more involved to learn about farm health and safety while at the same time having a look at one of the most successful farms in the county,” said Margaret Larkin of DLDC.

Featured speakers at the event will include John Starrett of DLDC, Michael Chance of the IFA, William Gaffney of the Health and Safety Authority, Bill Vaughan of Mental Health Ireland, Sergeant Paul Wallace of An Garda Sióchána, IFA Farm Family representative Mabel Russell, Andrew McNamee and Art McGrath of Teagasc, and Michael McHugh of FBD Insurance.

A number of stands offering information of interest to the farming community will also be present at the event.
