The new LEADER funded Súile Centre in Raphoe was officially opened recently by Minister for Education Joe McHugh, following an overall Capital Investment of €250,000 from LEADER and the local community.
Speaking at the opening, Minister Mc Hugh stated “It is a privilege to be part of such a positive project. He also welcomed the contribution made by LEADER through Donegal Local Development Company and the Donegal LCDC in supporting the Centre. The Súile Centre was added to Volt House as a multi-purpose centre for Raphoe’s many cultural, heritage, economic, environmental and community activities.
Representing DLDC, and also speaking at the launch Padraic Fingleton said, “DLDC is delighted to be associated with the Súile Centre and was very pleased to assist with LEADER funding for this community facility. He stated that the project is an excellent example of how funding for community initiatives can improve the quality of life and benefit local areas. He congratulated the local committee for their commitment and determination in developing this facility.
Mary Harte, Chairperson of Raphoe Community in action said “the fine building is the culmination of over 20 years of dedicated service by community volunteers”. She commended the work of Paul O’Donnell building contractors and David Buchanan the design consultant and thanked LEADER and DLDC for their substantial contribution to the project.
