Enhancement of the Natural, Built, Social and Cultural Environments including Environmentally Friendly Initiatives
Donegal Local Development
Company Ltd considered applications for initiatives which lead to
the enhancement of the Natural/Built/Social or Cultural environments,
and environmentally friendly initiatives, over the 2002-2006 period.
The specific emphasis of the programme was on the integration of new
know-how and technologies in culture and heritage, farm based renewable
energy schemes, and on new know-how, technology and the environment.
All activities undertaken
through LEADER+ were environmentally friendly and where appropriate DLDC consulted
the Office of Public Works, Dúchas and local authorities on any
project with environmental, culture, conservation or heritage implications.
Particular care was also taken in assessing any project which had an impact on the national heritage. It should also be noted that
only new and innovative aspects of annual festivals could be considered
