CONSERVATION AND UPGRADING OF THE RURAL HERITAGE
Donegal Local Development Company Ltd will consider applications under the Rural Development Programme over the period 2007 – 2013 for actions which promote conservation and protection issues focusing on the natural, cultural, social and vernacular heritage. Pro-active initiatives in relation to the utilisation of local resources to provide sustainable and renewable energy options for local communities will also be supported.
EXAMPLES OF PROJECTS WHICH MAY BE ELIGIBLE
- Support for initiatives that preserve and enhance local vernacular architecture and develop the rich culture and traditions of the catchment area.
- Support for initiatives in consultation with local heritage societies and Donegal County Council’s Heritage programme for restoration of locally significant natural and environmental areas.
- Support for community focused renewable energy initiatives which address community energy needs with particular regard to the biomass development potential that exists within our catchment area.
- Support for community environmental initiatives that are in accord with the water framework directive and protect and develop the amenity value of local water resources and nature areas.
- Support for environmental initiatives that are aimed at waste reduction.
- Encourage the use of the natural resources that are available in the catchment that will enhance our rural heritage.
