FUNDING OVERVIEW
WORKING IN DONEGAL TOWARDS A BETTER FUTURE FOR ALL
Donegal Local Development Company Ltd (DLDC) has been awarded the contract for the delivery of Axis 3 and 4 (Leader Elements) of the Rural Development Programme (RDP) 2007 – 2013. Over this period, DLDC will administer €12.8 million of RDP funds on behalf of the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs within its Co. Donegal catchment regions in the North, East and South of Donegal, excluding Inishowen and the Gaeltacht regions.

encourage diversification of the rural economy.”
AIM OF THE PROGRAMME
DLDC’s Rural Development Programme aims to support a range of actions that will collectively lead to an enhanced quality of life in rural areas, as well as a sustainable diversification of the rural economy. Funding is available under the following 7 measures:
Improving the Quality of Life in Rural Areas
1. Basic Services for the Economy and Rural Population
2. Village and Countryside Renewal and Development
3. Conservation and Upgrading of the Rural Heritage
Diversification of the Rural Economy
4. Diversification into Non-Agricultural Activities
5. Support for Business Creation and Development
6. Encouragement of Tourism Activities
Training
7. Training and Information for Economic Actors
Women and young people (under 25 years of age) are considered as key contributors to the development of rural areas and have been identified for priority support.
Note: DLDC’s allocation of funding is conditional upon the decision of the Minister on the availability of funding on an annual basis.
