ENCOURAGEMENT OF TOURISM ACTIVITIES
Donegal Local Development Company Ltd will support tourism initiatives under the Rural Development Programme over the 2007-2013 period.  This measure aims to maximise tourism potential in a balanced and sustainable way in rural areas. Projects will be considered for funding which demonstrate that they will seek to achieve a greater number of visitors and extend the “shoulder” season through the provision of necessary infrastructural facilities and the development of the countryside as a recreational resource in a manner that will preserve the local heritage and environment.

EXAMPLES OF PROJECTS WHICH MAY BE ELIGIBLE:-
 

• Development and promotion of local areas and facilities with geographic consideration for provision of outdoor leisure/adventure pursuits and countryside recreation. 
• Development of ‘on-shore’ facilities for provision of water sports.
• Development of ‘niche’ tourism products and events.
• Development of cultural tourism and preservation of Donegal’s rich traditional musical heritage.
• Supports for tourism initiatives that preserve the heritage of local areas.
• Support for small scale visitor infrastructure.
