VILLAGE AND COUNTRYSIDE RENEWAL AND DEVELOPMENT

Donegal Local Development Company Ltd will consider applications for initiatives which focus on improvement and enhancement of villages, small towns and the surrounding countryside under the Rural Development Programme over the period 2007 - 2013.  Actions will be aimed at enhancing the environmental, amenity and surface structural aspects of these communities.

Projects will be considered for funding that provide appropriate small-scale infrastructure developments to enhance the economic and social attractiveness of villages, small towns and the surrounding countryside.

EXAMPLES OF PROJECTS WHICH MAY BE ELIGIBLE

• Renovation of relevant derelict buildings and community ground open to the public.
• Support for initiatives which provide assistance to the development of walking and cycling routes for rural dwellers.
• Support for initiatives which provide for better access and signage to the countryside including improved access to archaeological and historical features.
• Community infrastructure initiatives including the development of community play parks/green areas, forest parks, picnic areas, sculpture park/garden, civic areas, river walks, community gardens and green areas in towns. 
• Support for initiatives which create litter awareness and co-operation on civic area projects.
