The Active Citizenship Programme - Funded by Border Action
The active Citizenship programme
is dedicated to promoting greater participation in the democratic
process through the provision of a series of Voter Education workshops.
Why a Programme dedicated to
Voter Education?
The active Citizenship voter
education programme provides a valuable resource for all who are committed
to addressing the situation where only a relatively small number of
people who are marginalized or disadvantaged in some way vote in elections.
As a consequence their views are not taken into consideration by many
of the political parties as they formulate their policies. Donegal
Local Development Company intend to offer a mechanism to offer these
groups an opportunity to make their voices heard.
Details of upcoming workshops
and “Train the Trainer” Workshops will be posted each
month from January 2007.
